Medication Philosophy
Our Medication Philosophy

Medications can be very helpful for certain psychiatric conditions such as Major Depression, Anxiety disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bipolar disorder, ADHD (inattentive, hyperactive or combined), and Psychotic Disorders. However, all medications have potential side effects. Often the side effects are short lived and/or are non-problematic and the risks and benefits will be taken into consideration and discussed with the patient prior to prescribing medication. Some medications might require laboratory testing prior to and/or at onset of treatment and periodic monitoring of lab testing thereafter. Dr. Warner believes in a carefully thought out and/or methodical approach in prescribing psychotropic medications based upon the presenting symptoms, medical history, past or current treatments and other non-psychotropic medications that may have potential interactions. Genetic testing is also offered that might be beneficial in providing information on individual variability in dosing requirements and/or precautions. Our practice does prescribe controlled substances conservatively and judiciously, if and as indicated.
